Mixcla was founded by Laura De Valencia Kirk, a Colombian lawyer turned artist with an MFA in studio art from Florida State University and a BFA in advertising from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She is the creative director of NY-based apparel brand Commune and Memoir and works in Tallahassee, FL.
